When should I check-in for SilkAir flights?
You can check-in at least 60 minutes before departure. We recommend arriving early to have sufficient time to check documents related to flight requirements during the COVID-19 pandemic. Check-in deadlines may vary for certain routes and airports.
Can I check-in online for SilkAir domestic flights?
Yes, you can check-in online to save time at the airport. Check-in can be done from 48 hours to 90 minutes before departure. Please visit the official SilkAir website for the online check-in process.
Can I only check-in at SilkAir outlets located at the departure airport?
No, you can choose other check-in methods, such as web check-in, mobile check-in, kiosk check-in, city check-in, and phone check-in. Please contact the SilkAir Contact Center for more information.
How many cabin baggage capacity do I have?
SilkAir Suites, First, and Business Class passengers can bring 2 (two) cabin baggage with a maximum weight of each. 7 (seven) kg and for Premium Economy Class and Economy Class can bring 1 (one) cabin baggage with a max. 7 (seven) kg.
How many checked baggage allowance do I have?
On SilkAir flights the checked baggage allowance for Suites & First Class is 50 kg, Business Class 40 kg, Premium Economy Class 35 kg, Flexi & Standard Economy Class 30 kg, Value & Lite Economy Class 25 kg. Checked baggage allowance may vary on each flight route, for complete information please visit the official SilkAir website.
Can pregnant women travel with SilkAir?
Yes, you can travel with SilkAir. Passengers with a gestational age of over 28 weeks may be required to bring a certificate or certificate from a registered doctor or midwife and inform the check-in staff of the pregnancy.

SilkAir (Singapore) Private Limited is a full-service regional airline headquartered at Airline House, Singapore. This airline is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines. As the local wing of Singapore Airlines, the airline serves short and medium-haul destinations in the Singapore Airlines Group network. It operates scheduled flight services from Singapore to 53 cities in 15 countries in Asia and Australia.

SilkAir's history as one of the leading regional airlines in Asia-Pacific began in the mid-1970s when Tradewinds Pte Ltd was formed in 1975 as a Singapore Airlines travel and travel group. Tradewinds was tasked with developing and providing vacation tours that exclusively marketed SIA vacation packages in the early 1980s.

On February 21, 1989, Tradewinds was inaugurated as an airline and served passengers wishing to take a vacation to various exotic destinations in the region, including Pattaya, Phuket, Hatyai, Kuantan, and Tioman. On April 1, 1992, Tradewinds changed its name to SilkAir. This change marks the evolution of operators from holiday resort airlines to comprehensive regional airlines. The Tours & Travel division of the company was restructured to become a wholly-owned subsidiary of SilkAir, maintaining the name Tradewinds Tours & Travels Pte Ltd.

A significant marketing reshuffle began in 1991, culminating on April 1, 1992, giving the airline's name and logo as a new corporate identity. This branded airline used the latest six Boeing 737-300, and in the mid-1990s, SilkAir added two Airbus A310-200 aircraft used to expand services to India and mainland China. This airline is the first Asian operator to entertain in the form of portable video-on-demand (VOD) in the form of DigEplayer 5500. Positioning SilkAir as a premium and medium-haul short-haul airline provides a unique appeal among travelers in Asia. SilkAir places great emphasis on providing attentive, friendly, and quality services.

    • There are some examples of items that are prohibited to be carried inside your carry-on baggage include lighter fluid, oxygen bottles, fireworks, paints, and tear gas. Personal items are allowed only in limited quantities such as hairspray, deodorant, fragrance, and medicines. For check-in baggage, it is prohibited to carry potential harmful and dangerous things (e.g., explosive, compressed gases, oxidizers, corrosives, flammable liquids and solids, firearms, radioactive materials, poisons, and any other hazardous materials).
