TAP Air Portugal is a Portuguese airline, with Lisbon Airport as the headquarters and central hub. TAP (Transportes Aéreos Portugueses) has been a member of the Star Alliance since 2005 and operates an average of 2,500 flights a week to 90 destinations in 34 countries around the world. The company has a fleet of 100 aircraft, all produced by Airbus except for 22 made by Embraer and ATR, which operate on behalf of the regional airline TAP Express.
On March 14, 1945, the airline was founded and began commercial service on September 19, 1946, with the first flight from Lisbon to Madrid using Douglas DC-3. For more than 70 years, TAP has been a pioneer in connecting Portugal with the world. In the 1950s, TAP grew and accompanied the country's milestones, such as the inauguration of the RTP or Lisbon Metro. The airline also launched routes in Africa and traveled to the other side of the Atlantic for the first time. In 2010, TAP underwent continuous transformation and innovation. Several awards for client services in the sky and digital world were won by this airline.
