This is the best hostel that I've ever stayed at! The location is great, close to everywhere or a few minutes from the train station. The cleanliness here was nice, as well as the food that they serve was always excellent. In the rooftop, the view here was also stunning.

Considering the quantity of guests staying in such a tiny hostel, the employees did a terrific job of keeping it clean. The manager was pleasant, unless she took away alcohol. The doors are locked at night for security, which is reassuring, and someone is accessible until at least four in the morning if you get locked out. Overall, a nice hostel, but I'll be moving to the base hostel today for some nice air conditioning. If you have substantial luggage or suitcases, there isn't an elevator. The slowest functioning fans from the 1900 s made the rooms and bathrooms very hot. It was so hot that my buddy and I struggled to breathe! I mean consistently! The cleaners banging about every morning's silence cannot be maintained. The Kings Cross district is not recommended. It's a 30-minute walk to town or a one-way train for about 3. 50. The workers made an excellent job of keeping it clean. Unless she was taking alcohol, the manager was courteous. It's reassuring that doors are locked at night for safety, and someone is available until april if you get locked out.

Definitely recommend this place! 5 months stay, fantastic staff and facilities are very convenient and very enjoyable for backpackers who want to make new friends and share international experiences.

No elevator if you carry heavy luggage or suitcases! And the slowestworking fans from the 1900 s are generating heat in the rooms. It was so hot that my friend and I awoke each morning to search for oxygen! The restrooms and rooms are cleaned frequently, and I mean frequently. There is no peace and quiet from the cleaning crew banging around each morning. I wouldn't suggest the King's Cross region, which is a 30-minute walk to town or a oneway train ride to take about 3.50 in one trip. However, given the number of guests staying in such a tiny hostel, the staff did a good job of keeping it clean. The manager was friendly, unless she was taking away alcohol. Doors are locked at night for safety, which is reassuring, and someone is available until dawn if you get locked out. Overall a nice hostel, but I'll be moving to a base hostel today for some nice air conditioning.

I had a great experience while staying here for 5 months, and this place has a wonderful location, for a backpacker who wants to make new friends and experience an international experience, and the staff here are incredibly professional and helpful.

The best hostel I have stayed in so far! The staff is friendly, the hotel is super clean and the events are always free food nights!! I also love the rooftop as well. The location is ideal, and most places are within walking distance or a few minutes from the station. We hope to return soon!

I stayed at the Be Madmonkey on Backwater Road. The staff was very helpful and Joel the manager of the hostel was especially helpful in providing advice on transport links, things to do, where to go and just being a cool guy all around. I recommend staying here because it is a good place to meet people and it is very affordable. 5 minutes walk to King's Cross train station and an easy walk to the beaches in the bay.

During my stay in the be madmonkey on Backwater Road, the staff were very kind, the manager, Joel was extremely helpful and gave us directions for transportation, things to do, where to go, and just being a cool guy all around. Highly recommend staying here as a location to meet new people and the price is very reasonable. KINGS cross train station is only a 5-minute walk away, and the beaches in the bay are also close by.
