It is very rare for me to book and pay for a place for two nights and yet leave after one. I did here. My room on the third floor had no window and looked and felt like a prison cell. It was baking hot and whilst the air con did eventually oool it - after I'd gone down to reception to replace the controller which had run out of battery - it switched off as soon as you left the room so quickly heated up again. There is a glass skylight above the door and a bright bulb in the corridor outside so the room is permanently illuminated. Bring your own eyeshade if you want darkness. The bath mat was stained and disgusting. The noise from the local karaoke bars is deafening. Not only can you hear the songs - whilst wearing foam earplugs! - the music causes something in the room to reverberate and it carries on until three in the morning when it abruptly stops. I couldn't cope with another night and left.

I think to call this a "Boutique" guest house is a little over stated. The room we had was small & clean but I would not have wanted to stay longer. The area the guest house is located in is convenient but felt as though it was in an industrial area that seemed a little deserted.

We were looking for a tripple room and we had read that they could accomodate a room for that. The location of this hotel is very convenient, but the street where it is located is full of rats and roaches and it is not lit at all. We arrived late in the evening and no one spoke a word of English. Since we have been traveling for a while we have some bahasa indonesian sentences but the boy at reception didn' t seem to want to sell us a room. We funally got two rooms, they are modern and nicely decorated with a flat screen TV. Cleanliness could be better, there was some tissue paper on my room, walls were dirty and there were two huge roaches in the other room. The room had no towels and for the price paid we found it was expensive. Only one of the two rooms had a sink with a small mirror but we couldn' use it because it was clogged. Breakfast was not included in the price and no tea or coffee options are available. Overall, it' s a place that wants to be something it really isn' t.

I stayed here for a week. It is within close proximity to everything. Clean and staff are friendly. Even though most of them don't speak English, just smile and say hi to them. They are cool. It is near all the Karaoke bars so some nights it is tough to sleep. Bring earplugs! Also, Kemala beach is less than 3 km. You can walk there. Continue on a little further, you will find Melawai Beach. Overall, awesome experience!

We were so happy to find this little Hotel in Balikpapan. It's kind of small - speaking of the amount of rooms and their size. But they are modern and have air con. Plus you can use the computer in the lobby for free - great if you need to organize your next steps on your vacation. Besides the staff speaks english - a really rare thing in this area of Indonesia. And it's really cool, that the seaside promenade is just around the corner. And super super plus: You can buy your breakfast at a bakery cross the street and eat on the shadowy roof-deck.
