Staff are very nice. From the cleaning lady to the reception. location is an advantage. The windows are not soundproof hence you can hear the people loud music outside. Affordability it is very good for budget conscious travelers.

This is my go-to hotel for Singapore. Super convenient location, quiet & small but comfortable rooms. Bit surprised to find that the breakfast restaurant is no longer operating but I understand the economics behind that decision. Reasonable price for Singapore. Friendly helpful staff too.

I had to do a stopover in Singapore traveling alone on a long flight from Europe to Australia. I've lived in Singapore before but on the west side of the island and didn't really know Chinatown. I chose Hotel 1929 because of its heritage building and surroundings. Yes the bar next door was loud Friday night (until about 2am) but since I am used to sleeping with earplugs at night it did not bother me at all, and frankly I LOVED it, relaxing in my bed or sitting working on my laptop at the table on the sidewalk in front of the building, looking out on the beautiful street grooving to the music and feeling like I was in the middle of things. Adeline and Susan from the Hotel 1929 staff were very, very sweet and thoughtful, the room was spacious and airy and clean. To all of you who complain about the shower being in the same place as the toilet: that's just how many bathrooms are built in this part of the world, just put the cover down or the seat up before you shower and it is not a big deal! I will stay at the Hotel 1929 again on my way back from Australia to Europe, and look forward to seeing Adeline and Susan again. :-)

Convenient location with less than 5 mins walk to Chinatown food court and temple, 8 mins to metro. Susan, the owner, is super friendly and respectful. Room 403 is clean and sufficient with a king size bed, super comfortable pillows, and nice AC. Ensure to put out the sign for the staff to make up your room every day before you go out. They will also refill with fresh towels and 2 free bottles of water. Would recommend to others for a relaxing accommodation.

Nice hotel in a great location. Susan was an excellent host. Nothing was a problem for her. She organised a restaurant booking for us away from the touristy area which had great chilli crab and other tasty dishes at a reasonable price. There is also a cosy little bar attached to the hotel with comfy lounges. Plenty of restaurant and bar choices in the area.
