About Museum Pasifika

Pasifika Museum is an art museum in Bali, Indonesia founded in 2006 by Moetaryanto P and Philippe Augier, and designed by Popo Danes. This museum has an area of โ€‹โ€‹9,000 square meters and is located in the Nusa Dua Complex.

The Pasifika Museum displays more than 600 works of art by 200 artists from 25 countries. The museum collection includes various galleries, ranging from Indonesian artists, Italian, Dutch, French, European artists, to Indochinese artists.

History of Pasifika Museum

The Pasifika Museum brings together works of art from the Pacific region and Southeast Asia in one building, displaying works of art from the Indonesian archipelago, especially Bali. Even though it is relatively new, this museum has hundreds of collections of works of art from all over the Asia Pacific region.

This museum has a mission to preserve the diversity of community traditions and juxtapose important works of the 20th century, as well as being a cultural melting pot of artistic and cultural exchange.

Since opening, the Pasifika Museum has held a number of temporary events aimed at immortalizing and promoting a variety of Balinese and international cultural activities.

With its various unique collections and galleries, the Pasifika Museum is an attractive tourist destination for visitors interested in art and culture, especially on the island of Bali which is rich in cultural diversity.

The Pasifika Museum offers over 600 works of art on permanent display, creating a unique blend of Asia-Pacific, Indigenous, Asean and Foreign Art.

The Pasifika Museum has a unique collection of these artists, with over 100 works on display in 4 rooms: Italian, French, Dutch and Indo-European. These include Walter Spies, Miguel Covarrubias, Jean Le Mayeur, Willem Hoffker, Rudolf Bonnet, Arie Smit, Charles Sayers, and Theo Meier to name a few of the most famous.

  1. Indochinese from the Hanoi "Beaux-Arts" School Collection 

The artists and their followers who were part of the Hanoi "Beaux-Arts" School compiled a comprehensive collection of 30 artists and more than 50 works of art. It has been recognized in international exhibitions and publications. These works have now become some of the most popular works of art from the Asian region.

  1. Michoutouchkine & Pilioko Original Oceanian Art Collection

This collection consists of around 200 statues and tapa cloth from 10 nations in the Pacific (Vanuatu, Fiji, Tonga, PNG, New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, Wallis, Futuna, and Polynesia). Collected over more than 50 years by these two artists, the collection is one of the most complete in the world from an ethnological and anthropological perspective.

  1. Legendary Artist Collection

Starting from Paul Gauguin during his time in Tahiti, the Pasifika Museum displays 7 bronze sculptures based on some of his works, complemented by the artist's woodcuts and watercolors. In addition, works by famous artists such as Henri Rousseau, Henri Matisse, Auguste Rodin, Jean-Baptiste Carpeau, Marvina Hoffmann, and Bernard Buffet are also part of this collection with some of their Asian art works in Japan, China, India , and Polynesia.
