- Please Note: The JR Pass must be booked at least 14 days before you intend to travel to Japan. Once purchased, you will then receive an Exchange Order in the mail. You have 90 days - from the purchase date on - to swap the Exchange Order for the actual, physical JR Pass in Japan. Once exchanged in Japan, you then have 30 days to activate your JR Pass and start travelling on the trains.

What Shinkansen trains and JR trains are covered?
The pass covers all Japan Shinkansen lines connecting you to all major cities in the country, including the famous Tokaido Shinkansen line, Akita Shinkansen line, Kyushu Shinkansen line, Hokkaido Shinkansen line, Joetsu Shinkansen line, Yamagata Shinkansen line & Hokuriku Shinkansen Line etc. (i.e. Nozomi & Mizuho trains are NOT covered by the pass). The Japan railways are widely considered as one of the best train system in the world. Japan pail pass holders can enjoy unlimited Shinkansen lines train rides with one ticket under the validity period.

What are the seat classes available?
There are Green Cars & Ordinary Cars to choose from - Green Cars are the first-class services, users can expect a more spacious & comfortable seats. Green Car fee is also higher than Ordinary Car, so you may expect it to be less crowded.
How to conduct seat reservations?
Seat reservations are required before you board the train. There are 2 ways for you to reserve train tickets. 1) Just visit the ticket office in the stations and show you Japan rail pass to the staff to get your reserved seat JR trains tickets. 2) You may also visit a reserved seat ticket machine in JR line stations to book and issue a reserved seat ticket without waiting in line at the ticket office.
