Explore the wonderful and diverse culture of Indonesia by visiting the Mentawai tribe. Spend a few days exploring its heavenly nature and getting to know the locals. Join them in living their daily life and practicing their unique tradition of tattoo-making, and hunting, as well as making their own clothes using a special kind of wood. Explore the Natural of Mentawai Islands
The Mentawai Islands consist of more than 70 large as well as small islands which are mostly dense rainforests. The four main islands include Siberut, North Pagai, South Pagai, and Sipora. Although Mentawai is an isolated area, it has many beautiful beaches and well-know as one of the best surfing spots in the world. Recently, several investors have developed bungalows and resorts. You could reach the islands by a fast ferry from Padang City.

Itinerary Mentawai Tribe Tour 5D4N:
Day 01 Welcome to Mentawai Islands
We shall pick you up from the designated meeting point, Mentawai Harbor Port , Siberut. Then, we go to a guest house with a motorcycle or car for short breaks and lunch prior. After lunch, we continue our trip by using a boat for 1.5 hours across the river + 30 minutes trekking. Finally, we meet with local people who shall welcome us warmly. They shall show us their traditional house, called UMA. Furthermore, they shall tell us a story about their traditional culture. In the night, we shall overnight at one of local people’s house.
Day 02 Enjoying the Daily Life of Mentawai People
At the sed day of Mentawai Tribe Tour 5D4N, you shall spend the whole day by experiencing daily activities of the local people. After breakfast, we shall wear the traditional costume made from wooden leather. Firstly, we shall see the process to make sago, the main food of Mentawai Tribe. Not only knowing how to make sago, we then go to the jungle to hunting sago caterpillars. Then, we shall
enjoy a short break for lunch at a local residents. Secondly, after lunch, we shall do fishing to the riverbank while enjoying a coffee break. Thirdly, we go to souvenirs center where you could purchase some as presents for families and friends. Moreover, by purchasing it, you have participated in supporting the local economy. Fourthly, while the twilight approach, you shall have opportunity how the locals make a tattoo and poisons which shall be used for hunting at the jungle. Enjoy dinner and take a rest at night.
Day 03 Continue to Explore Daily Life of Mentawai Tribe
We arrive at the third day of Mentawai Tribe Tour 5D4N. Open the day with breakfast with locals, then we shall go into the jungle for hunting activities. Taste the local fruits during hunting until we reach the time for lunch break. After lunch, we shall learn how to produce handmade bracelets. Then, we shall enjoy a traditional ritual/ceremony such as buying/selling pigs or chickens. During afternoon, we shall learn how to make herb medicines until dinner time. Then, we spend the night by enjoying a Shaman Singing Performance.
Day 04 Sea Vitamin : Surfing and Snorkeling
This the last day of our experience with Mentawai Tribes. After breakfast, we shall say goodbye to them and take a short photo season as a memento. Then, we heading to the downtown and check-in at a guest house. And this is the time you enjoy water activities such as surfing or snorkeling. We shall go to Masilok Beach by a boat. At night, we shall conduct a fish barbecue party and overnight at Masilok.
Day 05 Good Bye Mentawai
The last day of Mentawai Tribe Tour 5D4N. After breakfast, we shall check-out and visit a souvenir center prior to your trip to the harbor for you to come back to the Padang City.
