- Arashiyama Arashiyama is a popular attraction in Kyoto. It is suitable for visiting all year round, but it is particularly charming in winter. You can start from Togetsukyo Bridge and enjoy the snow scenery like an ink painting. Especially when covered with snow, Mt. Atago and the surrounding mountains are more peaceful. Go to the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest Trail, listen to the natural sound of the wind blowing the bamboo leaves, and feel a special Zen feeling. This is also the filming location of the movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". When passing by Nonomiya Shrine, you may want to touch the "Turtle Stone", which is said to help the wisher achieve his wish within a year. While strolling leisurely, you can visit the surrounding ancient temples and gardens to experience the unique historical and cultural atmosphere of Arashiyama.
- Miyama Thatched Village (limited lighting event in winter, special winter fireworks on January 29!) Miyama Thatched Village is one of the three largest thatched house communities in Japan. The snow scene in winter seems to make people travel through time. The thatched houses in the village are covered with thatch on all sides, creating a sense of quaintness and isolation. From January 25th to February 1st every year, the village will hold a snow lantern gallery event. The snow lanterns and flower lanterns lit at night give the whole village a romantic atmosphere. You can participate in the experience of making snow lanterns and enjoy drinks and desserts made with Miyama milk in a traditional art gallery-style cafe. If you are lucky, you can also enjoy the fireworks show that lights up the winter night, which is a perfect end to the journey.
- Return to Kyoto/Osaka (Shinsaibashi area)
